The Informacon of Iohn Peers taken upon Oath y^e 18^th. day of May 1697

That he does know one Ioyce Hanbury who lives within Ludgate in Green lane a Lodger at M^r Newberries who has told this Inform^t. y^t one Iohn {Doin} y^t lives at Waltham who pretends to be husband to woman lodging in the same house a Chandler y^t is Confederate w^th Counterfeit^rs. of the Curr^t. Coyn of this Kingdom and y^t. the sd Ioyce did ask this Inform^t. to make an Edging Tool, that he did see in William Chaloner's Brother Ioseph Grosven^rs house Cutters and Tooles Instrum^ts. propper for coyning only with w^ch this Inform^t did see the said Grosven^r. actually counterfeit a Milld Shilling at his house an oyle shop in Beauford Buildings in a Fore Garret abo^t. five or 6 weeks at the furthest since and this Inform^t sayes y^t he carry^d divers Tooles necessary for making the said Engine to the said Grosven^r. but could not get ym from him since and y^t he promised this Inform^t. should be employed so as to get a great deal of money in a short time and that the said Chaloner did tell the said Grosven^r y^t if he did not deliver to him the said Edger Engines or Cutters he would have him in a Proclamation abo^t. a Fortnight since at Clark's the Flask Tavern ag^t. the Mewes And further that he hath heart|d| the said Chaloner often say and ꝑticularly within these 3 weeks that he had fund the Lords of the Treasury and the King out of 1000^ll. and that he would not leave the Parliam^t. till he had fund them likewise which this Inform^t understood to be deceiving them
